Here is the complete list of football clubs that have sent the highest number of players to represent their nations at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Manchester City stands out as the club contributing the most players to the 2026 World Cup compared to any other team.
At least 19 players from The Citizens are set to compete with their respective national teams in the global tournament.
Key Manchester City players such as Erling Haaland, Rodri, Ruben Dias, and Rayan Cherki are all included in the list.
Interestingly, even players who are expected to leave the club soon are still part of the World Cup roster.
Bernardo Silva (Portugal) and John Stones (England) continue to play crucial roles for their national sides.
The number of Manchester City players could still increase if names like Phil Foden or Savinho receive late call-ups from their national teams.
Unfortunately, both players have not been called up and will therefore miss the 2026 World Cup.
Below Manchester City, Bayern Munich follows closely with 18 of its stars heading to the 2026 World Cup.
The attacking trio of Bayern Munich, who have had a stellar season, were all guaranteed selections for their national teams.
Harry Kane has been called up by Thomas Tuchel to lead England’s attack for this World Cup edition.
Michael Olise joins the French national team, while Luis Diaz will spearhead Colombia’s attacking line.
Additionally, seven Bayern Munich players will represent Germany: Manuel Neuer, Jonathan Thah, Jamal Musiala, Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Lennart Karl, and Leon Goretzka.
Meanwhile, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, both of whom recently contested the Champions League final, are sending 16 players each to the tournament.
Barcelona follows by contributing 15 of its top players to the 2026 World Cup.
One of the biggest surprises is Crystal Palace, the club that claimed the UEFA Europa Conference League title this season.
Crystal Palace shares the same number of World Cup representatives—12 players—with Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, and Al Hilal.
Perhaps the most surprising case is Real Madrid, which does not appear among the clubs sending the largest contingents to the World Cup.
The Spanish giants have only 10 players heading to the 2026 World Cup, the same number as Fenerbahce, AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven, and Slavia Prague.
The Domino Effect of a Packed Schedule Ahead of the 2026 World Cup
It’s undeniable that the congested club calendar remains a recurring concern in world football.
Just days after the conclusion of the club season, which wrapped up with the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday (31 May 2026), the 2026 World Cup—featuring 48 nations—is set to kick off soon after.
The demanding 2025/2026 club schedule could lead to player fatigue during the tournament.
This raises risks such as injuries and a possible decline in overall tournament competitiveness, potentially affecting the quality of the 2026 World Cup.
Moreover, the expanded format with 48 participating countries adds further physical and mental strain on footballers.
Arnan Binafsihi, Vice Chairman of Oranje Indonesia, shared his views during Tribunnews’s “Super Taktik” programme themed “Mapping the Strengths of the 2026 World Cup and Indonesia’s Dream”, held last weekend.
“It’s definitely risky because after such a tight club season, players barely have any rest before the World Cup begins—maybe just a little time off,” said Arnan during the discussion.
“Injury risk is the main concern, especially since players tend to go all out for their countries to deliver their best performances,” he added.
“With the packed club schedule continuing into a 48-team World Cup, the potential for various risks increases significantly,” Arnan concluded.
