Terengganu FC has officially signed Gervane Kastaneer, who is currently representing the Curacao national team at the 2026 World Cup.

The Indonesian League has sent one player to the 2026 World Cup, while the Malaysian League boasts three representatives.

It turns out that the Malaysian League has more players competing in the 2026 World Cup compared to the Indonesian League.

The Indonesia Super League can still take pride in having one of its players participating in the global football spectacle.

That player is the versatile Persib Bandung defender, Frans Putros.

Putros has been included in the Iraq national team squad selected by Graham Arnold for the 2026 World Cup.

His impressive performances with Persib convinced Graham Arnold to call him up.

The Denmark-born player recently helped Maung Bandung clinch the Super League title and advance to the Round of 16 in the AFC Champions League Two.

“Yes, of course, I feel very proud and happy. It has been 40 years since we last qualified — the last time was in 1986 in Mexico,” said Putros on the official I.League website.

“It’s a proud moment for me, for the entire team, and for all the people of Iraq, as well as for my family back home. It’s very special and something I will always remember.”

“I’ve really felt the support, and I’m very grateful to the Bobotoh,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian League has three players who will feature in the 2026 World Cup.

One of them is former Persib Bandung and Persis Solo striker, Gervane Kastaneer.

Kastaneer now plays for Terengganu FC and has been included in Curacao’s final squad under coach Dick Advocaat.

The other two are Mohammad Abualnadi and Noor Al Rawabdeh from Selangor FC, both of whom will represent the Jordan national team.

In Southeast Asia, only one other league has contributed a player to the World Cup.

That league is the Thai League, which, like the Indonesian League, has sent one player.

The player is Rebin Sulaka from Port FC, who is also part of the Iraq national team squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Therefore, the Malaysian League stands as the top contributor in Southeast Asia with three players, followed by the Indonesian League and Thai League with one player each.
