New Delhi: Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy carpooled with cabinet colleagues Shivraj Singh Chouhan and CR Patil for the weekly cabinet meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday. The step was taken amid a call by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reduce fuel consumption in the country.
What G Kishan Reddy write on X?Taking to X, Reddy wrote, “Furthering Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s clarion call to reduce fuel consumption and adopt sustainable practices in our daily lives, carpooled to the Cabinet meeting in New Delhi today, along with my Cabinet colleagues, Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji and Hon’ble Union Minister for Jal Shakti Shri C R Patil Ji.”
“Carpooling is a small step with a large impact, helping conserve energy, reduce carbon emissions, and contribute to a cleaner and greener Bharat. Let us all embrace simple, responsible choices that strengthen our nation’s energy security,” he added.

Notably, Union ministers Prahlad Joshi and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who live close to each other, also carpooled together to the Cabinet meeting. Among others, Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also shared shared a ride with fellow cabinet minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
The step was taken following a suggestion made by PM Modi during an earlier cabinet meeting, where he is believed to have encouraged ministers to start carpooling whenever going the same destination.
