Napoli have officially issued a statement confirming that Antonio Conte has stepped down from his role as head coach of the club by mutual consent, bringing an end to his tenure one year before his contract was due to expire.

Reports had long suggested that Conte was preparing to depart Naples after completing two seasons in charge. On Wednesday, the coach took to social media to bid farewell to the fans, expressing gratitude for their support during what he described as “two successful years.”

The club’s statement now formally confirms Conte’s exit. The five-time Serie A champion still had a year remaining on his deal, which was set to run until the end of the 2026–27 season. However, consistent with Conte’s history of brief yet impactful managerial spells, he has chosen to conclude his time at Napoli after two years.

“SSC Napoli announces that it has ended its professional relationship with coach Antonio Conte and his staff by mutual consent, ahead of the natural expiry date of the contract,” the club’s official statement read on Thursday.

“During his two seasons at the helm of the Azzurri, Conte guided Napoli to their fourth Scudetto on May 23, 2026, and to victory in the Supercoppa Italiana on December 22.”

The Italian coach was also pictured in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on December 22, 2025, holding the Supercoppa Italiana trophy after Napoli’s triumph over Bologna FC 1909 at the King Saud University Stadium.

“We extend our sincere thanks to the coach and his staff for the outstanding work they have accomplished, along with our best wishes for their future professional endeavours. Grazie, Mister,” the statement concluded.

Conte claimed the Serie A title in his debut season with Napoli, making him the only manager to have lifted the Italian top-flight trophy with three different clubs — having previously achieved the same feat with Juventus and Inter Milan.

Although Napoli’s Champions League campaign proved disappointing and their Serie A title defence in 2025–26 fell short of expectations, Conte’s record remains remarkable. Across his managerial terms with Juventus, Inter, and Napoli, he has never finished lower than second place in the league.
