Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak has assured that he will speak openly about the club’s prolonged legal dispute with the Premier League once a final decision is reached. More than a year and a half after an independent hearing concluded, the club continues to await a verdict on 115 alleged breaches of financial regulations, maintaining their stance of innocence throughout the process.

Chairman awaiting legal verdict

Manchester City remain in limbo regarding the outcome of their ongoing case with the Premier League, which stems from 115 alleged violations of financial rules first brought forward in February 2023. The independent hearing that examined the case wrapped up in December 2024, yet no ruling has been issued so far.

This prolonged uncertainty has kept one of English football’s most high-profile stories unresolved. The accusations continue to dominate discussions even as City sustain their dominance on the pitch. Should the club be found guilty, they could face serious penalties, but City have persistently denied any misconduct and continue to challenge the charges.

Al-Mubarak pledges to speak out post-verdict

In his annual end-of-season address, Khaldoon Al-Mubarak explained his cautious approach to discussing the matter publicly while legal proceedings are still underway.

“Let me be as consistent as I’ve always been – until we have a ruling, I can’t say much,” Al-Mubarak told reporters. “Once we have a ruling, believe me, I’ll say everything I’ve wanted to say for the last three years.”

City stand firm amid ongoing uncertainty

The unresolved case continues to cast a shadow over what has otherwise been one of the most successful eras in Manchester City’s history. Despite the potential risks, the club’s leadership remains steadfast in its belief that they have done nothing wrong. Al-Mubarak reiterated that the owners are fully committed to the long-term vision and growth of the club.

“There’s no intention to sell,” he stated. “The only intention is to keep growing because our view is that this will only expand further, and this is a magnificent business to own.”

“It’s football, it’s entertainment. And in today’s world, even as global interests shift, sport endures. Within sport, football stands at the top, and Manchester City, along with this Group, is at the pinnacle of that world. Assets like these are not for sale.”

Awaiting the final judgment

All eyes now remain fixed on the forthcoming decision. Until the verdict is made public, Manchester City are expected to remain largely silent on the matter. Once the ruling is delivered, Al-Mubarak has promised to address the entire issue comprehensively. The outcome will carry major implications not only for the Cityzens but also for the Premier League as a whole, given the gravity and visibility of the allegations.
