In fact, amid speculations about his return to Congress, former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Saturday, June 6. Captain Amarinder Singh himself shared the information about this important meeting. He said that many important issues to Punjab were discussed in detail with Home Minister Amit Shah. This meeting has taken place at a time when the Captain had openly expressed his displeasure over the recent appointment of Punjab BJP President, after which discussions regarding his political future intensified.
In fact, this meeting of Captain Amarinder Singh is also considered special because a few days ago he had raised questions on the appointment of new Punjab BJP state president Kewal Singh Dhillon. The former Chief Minister had clearly said that Kewal Singh Dhillon is not suitable for this post. He had also accused the BJP leadership of not taking any advice from him in major decisions of the party. After these sharp reactions of the Captain, the discussion intensified in the political circles that he may return to Congress again. In such a situation, his meeting with Amit Shah has given further fuel to these speculations.

Actually, Bharatiya Janata Party has made major changes in the organization keeping in mind the upcoming 2027 assembly elections in Punjab. On May 28, the party had appointed Kewal Singh Dhillon as the new state president of Punjab BJP. He has replaced Sunil Jakhar, who has been considered the main face of Punjab BJP for a long time. There were many discussions within the party regarding this change. Captain Amarinder Singh’s displeasure gave this entire incident more political importance.

Apart from meeting Amit Shah, Captain Amarinder Singh also met Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda. He shared this information on social media platform X. He told that various issues and political situation of Punjab were discussed in detail with JP Nadda in New Delhi. It is believed to be an indication that the Captain is in constant communication with the BJP leadership.
At the same time, Union Health Minister JP Nadda also confirmed this meeting by posting on Instagram. He wrote that he had a meaningful discussion with former Chief Minister of Punjab and senior BJP leader Captain Amarinder Singh, in which many political issues including Punjab were discussed. Political analysts believe that the BJP leadership is trying to remove the displeasure of Captain Amarinder Singh and keep the organization strong in Punjab.
