Residents of Sarmi Hold Joint Parade of Supporters for the 2026 World Cup Teams

SARMI – The organizing committee of the FUN MATCH Futsal for 2026 World Cup Supporter Nations held a joint vehicle parade in Sarmi Regency, Papua, on Saturday (June 6, 2026). The event was organized to express the community’s enthusiasm in welcoming and celebrating the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

Thousands of supporters representing various 2026 World Cup participating nations in Sarmi took part in the parade. The streets were filled with two-wheelers and four-wheelers decorated with flags and symbols of their favorite national teams.

The Committee Chairperson, Revelino Manibor, explained that the joint vehicle parade was part of the agenda for the FUN MATCH Futsal of 2026 World Cup Supporter Nations. He said the event aimed to strengthen camaraderie among supporters while promoting sportsmanship within the community.

The Committee Secretary, Jhon J. Rumbino, expressed his appreciation to all participants who joined the parade. He stated that the community’s high level of enthusiasm reflected the deep passion of Sarmi residents for football.

The parade began at the Mararena Central Market Field in Sarmi. From the starting point, participants drove through several main streets in Sarmi City, proudly displaying attributes and flags of the 2026 World Cup participating nations.

Throughout the route, residents crowded along the roadsides to watch the parade. The festive atmosphere was marked by the waving of flags, honking of vehicle horns, and cheers from participants.

To ensure safety and smooth traffic flow, the parade was directly escorted by personnel from the Sarmi Police Traffic Unit. The escort accompanied the convoy from the starting point until all participants returned to the final location.

After touring around Sarmi City, the parade participants returned to the Mararena Central Market Field, which also served as the finish line. The entire event proceeded in an orderly, safe, and smooth manner without disrupting public activities or other road users.

The vehicle parade took place from 3:30 PM local time until completion. The organizing committee hopes the event will serve as a unifying platform for the community and boost the spirit of togetherness in welcoming the world’s biggest football festival, the 2026 World Cup.
