A case of love and religious conversion has come to light from Shamli in Uttar Pradesh, which has increased political and social excitement in the entire area. In a two-year-old love affair, when a Hindu youth accepted Islam to marry a Muslim girl, no one thought that the matter would reach the police station and legal complications. Now the police have taken action in this case and arrested the girl and her father, while her husband Ayush Malik is said to be absconding at present.

Actually, this whole story is of 30 year old medical businessman Ayush Malik and Chandni Qureshi, residents of Shamli. It is being told that both of them fell in love about two years ago. The love blossomed to such an extent that both of them went against their families and started living in Delhi and entered into a live-in relationship. Chandni wanted Ayush to marry her only after accepting Islam. To fulfill his love, Ayush read Kalma, changed his religion and both of them got married. After this both returned to Shamli and started living like a normal married couple. Ayush had also become a five-time namazi.

Entry and threat of ‘Hindutva’ amidst love

This love story took a turn when Yashveer Maharaj, a Hindu leader of West UP, took notice of this matter. He did not like this combination of love and religion. Yashveer Maharaj clearly demanded that Ayush be made Hindu again. Not only this, they directly threatened the district administration that if Ayush did not return home, they would hold a big protest in front of Chandni Qureshi’s house. After this threat, tension spread in the area and Ayush ran away out of fear after seeing the entry of right wing politics in the midst of his love.

Police action: Chandni and her father arrested

When the matter escalated, Shamli police also came into action. Actually, the police has taken this action on the complaint of Ayush’s father. Based on the father’s complaint, the police registered a case of forced conversion of the son and immediately arrested Chandni Qureshi and her father. According to the local people, the police is now also searching for the Mullahs and Maulvis who had completed the process of Nikah and religious conversion.
