Washington DC. America’s Defense Ministry i.e. Pentagon has expressed great concern about Israel’s espionage activities. The Pentagon has increased the threat of espionage to Israel to a critical level. This is the Pentagon’s highest internal evaluation level. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has issued a warning in this regard. The US Defense Department fears that Israel may increase surveillance of their senior officials. This situation has arisen when differences have increased between President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the ongoing conflict with Iran.
In a report, two current and one former American officials have revealed this. An official said that America already makes very strict security arrangements on official visits to Israel. The Israeli espionage system is considered very aggressive in gathering information. For security, US officials use makeshift computers and burner phones in Israel. They follow very limited and safe communication rules for conversation. Former diplomats and security experts say US officials avoid conducting confidential discussions in Israel in hotel rooms or any other unsecured location.

The defense intelligence agency has released an internal notice and a seven-page document in recent weeks. It gives detailed information about Israel’s espionage capabilities. According to the report, Israel is highly capable in both human espionage and technical espionage. This threat should now be considered at a serious level. This decision will have the greatest impact on American personnel who travel to Israel or work with Israeli officials. However, the normal work of sharing intelligence between the two countries will continue as before.
Emily Harding of the Center for Strategic and International Studies said that Israel’s intelligence structure is very aggressive. They are very much interested in knowing what America is doing. However, a White House official has called this entire news wrong. He said that this information has been given by a person who does not have correct information about the incidents.
On the other hand, the Israeli Embassy in Washington has also rejected these allegations outright. An embassy spokesman said Israel does not spy on American institutions or officials. He made it clear that Israel’s intelligence activities are only against enemies, not against friends.
This tension between Trump and Netanyahu came to light during a recent phone call. According to reports, Trump even called Netanyahu crazy. According to Axios report, Trump was very angry that Israel had threatened to resume air strikes on Beirut. Trump warned Netanyahu that these actions were causing great harm to Israel’s international image. Trump told Netanyahu on the phone, now everyone hates you. For these reasons everyone is hating Israel. This situation shows that the distance between the two old allies is increasing regarding strategic goals.
