Read, Digital Desk : The camp of Mamata Banerjee has launched a scathing attack on the rebel leaders who have now gone to the Speaker to express their support to the NDA government led by the BJP. The revolt has threatened to split the Trinamool Congress.
A senior TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee today called it betrayal, but was relieved that the rebel MPs had finally identified their allegiance.
‘We have no problem with you going’.
He stated, “We are extremely happy that the double-faced have moved away. Whosoever wants to go should go. We have no problem with you leaving but you cannot take the name of Trinamool and Mamata Banerjee. The people know who is correct and the masses stand with us”.
‘BJP will not accommodate them’.
He claimed that “The BJP will not take anyone of you”. The Lok Sabha MP stated at a press conference on this morning that “You don’t have enough number of MPs to merge with another party”.
Meanwhile, party sources said that Trinamool has tried to reach out to the rebel MPs and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee is trying to persuade them to come back reminding them of his close relations with Mamata Banerjee. However, the rebel MPs remain unyielding.
It is to be mentioned that around 20 MPs gave a clear message to the high command of the party yesterday. They elected their own chief whip namely Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar thereby clearly ignoring the decision of Mamata Banerjee to make Kalyan Banerjee the chief whip of the party.
‘Are the rebel MPs afraid of central government’.
They have also written to the Speaker and also mentioned that they wish to support NDA. Kalyan Banerjee is still waiting for the verdict from the Speaker, however he did not forget to take a dig at the rebel leaders of the party and suggested that BJP trying to divide his party and warned that he cannot make such an allegation unless he feels the rebel MPs are not scared of the central government.
He stated, “They once campaigned for Trinamool and had praised Mamata Banerjee’s leadership for being bold and upright. The MPs now blame TMC and make such allegations because they are not in power. These rebel MPs can not live without power”.
Mamata Banerjee’s camp slams rebel leaders.
Banerjee challenged rebel leaders to contest elections from their respective constituencies, saying people will definitely teach them a lesson after voting for you people in large numbers. End of fifteen years rule of Trinamool has now raised rebellion against the 71-year old Mamata Banerjee who has completed fifty years of her political career.
