Apple CEO Tim Cook delivered an emotional farewell message at WWDC 2026, marking the end of his 15-year tenure at the helm of the company.
In a pre-recorded video shown during the keynote, Cook reflected on his journey as CEO and the impact developers have had on Apple’s success. Introduced by Craig Federighi, Cook gave what appeared to be his final “Good Morning” to developers at WWDC, thanking them for their creativity, innovation, and continued support over the years.
“One of the greatest highlights of my time as CEO has been events like this, sharing powerful new tools with all of you,” Cook said. “What you create with them has been a constant reminder that imagination has no limits.”
He praised the developer community for using Apple’s platforms to help people create, learn, and experience the world in new ways. Referring to the technologies unveiled at WWDC 2026, Cook expressed optimism about the company’s future.
“Over the years, you have helped people create, learn and experience the world in extraordinary ways, and with the incredible capabilities we introduced today, I truly believe the best is still ahead,” he said.
Calling it an “honor” to lead Apple, Cook reiterated that the company’s guiding principle has always been to build products that serve people’s needs. He concluded his remarks with a heartfelt thank you to developers and Apple users around the world.
At the end of Apple CEO Tim Cook gave a final sign-off for the event before he formally steps down on September 1.
Cook has served as Apple’s CEO since 2011, when he succeeded co-founder Steve Jobs. He is set to step down in September, with Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, John Ternus, expected to take over as CEO ahead of the company’s annual iPhone launch event.
