On Tuesday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid homage to the revered tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda on the occasion of his death anniversary. He reflected on Munda's significant contributions to India's freedom struggle and his relentless efforts to safeguard tribal identity and rights. In a tribute shared on his official social media, Singh praised Munda's role in awakening the tribal community against British colonial rule and acknowledged his lifelong commitment to justice and empowerment. He expressed, 'On the death anniversary of 'Dharti Aaba' Birsa Munda, I bow to him millions of times. The great leader fought for freedom until his last breath and awakened the tribal society against British rule.'

Munda dedicated his life to protecting the rights to water, forests, and land, maintaining dignity for his people. His struggle against foreign rule, injustice, and exploitation inspired a new wave of national consciousness and instilled a message of patriotism that continues to motivate us today. His indomitable courage, sacrifice, and martyrdom will guide future generations. In a tribute, Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah described Munda as an eternal symbol of tribal pride, patriotism, and cultural awareness. In his message, Shah noted that Munda raised the call for freedom against British rule through the historic 'Ulgulan' movement. He stated, 'He organized the tribal community to protect their rights and heritage, turning the conservation of water, forests, and land into a people's movement.' Shah further remarked that Munda's struggle against conversion and his commitment to tribal pride continue to inspire millions across the country. Birsa Munda is regarded as one of the most influential tribal freedom fighters in Indian history. Born in the late 19th century, he led movements against British colonial rule and exploitation in the Chotanagpur region, organizing tribal communities to assert their rights over land and resources.
