The NEET Re-Exam for 2026 is set to implement stringent security protocols at examination centers. This overhaul comes in response to previous controversies surrounding paper leaks, ensuring a secure environment from the preparation of the question paper to its delivery.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is taking no chances with the upcoming NEET UG re-exam scheduled for June 21. Following a significant paper leak incident, the examination process has been completely revamped. Enhanced security measures are now in place, covering every aspect of the examination workflow.
For the first time, the Indian Air Force, along with the Department of Posts, central security forces, and local authorities, will collaborate to safeguard the question papers. Experts involved in paper preparation will be kept in isolation to prevent any potential leaks. Let's delve into the secure journey of the NEET UG paper from the NTA to the exam center.
Reasons for Increased Security
A nationwide uproar followed the paper leak incident after the NEET exam on May 3, leading to the cancellation of the exam and the decision to conduct a re-exam. In light of this, the NTA has introduced several new security protocols to eliminate any chances of irregularities.
Transporting the NEET UG Paper
The Indian Air Force will play a crucial role in transporting question papers to around 18 regional centers nationwide. Utilizing Air Force aircraft under special security measures will ensure the safe delivery of papers to various states. This marks a significant first for the Indian Air Force's involvement in a major examination like NEET.
Delivery from Regional Centers to Exam Centers
After arriving at the regional centers, the Department of Posts will handle the transportation of question papers to the exam centers, employing special security protocols. A three-tier security system will be established, with ongoing monitoring by central security forces, local police, district administration, and NTA officials.
Isolation of Paper Setters
To further enhance security, subject experts involved in creating the question papers will be under strict surveillance until June 21, limiting their contact with the outside world. This measure aims to prevent any leaks regarding the question papers prior to the exam. Additionally, monitoring will extend to digital platforms, with the NTA and other agencies keeping a vigilant eye on social media and messaging apps to address any misinformation or suspicious activities promptly.
Exam Locations
The NEET UG re-exam will take place in approximately 552 cities across India and 14 international locations. Scheduled for June 21, the exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper format from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. The NTA is also developing a new technical system that will ensure even the experts setting the questions remain unaware of which specific exam they are preparing for. A comprehensive digital bank containing thousands of questions will be created, from which the final question paper will be compiled, further reducing the risk of leaks.
