Bananas are available to buy at fruit markets throughout the year. Even in Bengali’s house, his daily visits continue. Easy to digest, so everyone can eat it. Raw bananas are also in huge demand. Kale broth can be consumed for any stomach problem. Many people even make chips and eat them. Not only the fruit, but the leaves from the stem of the banana tree – every thing has been used by people in various ways.
But do you know, there is no need to throw away the banana peel! Rather, it can be made with delicious chutney (banana peel chutney)! In some villages of Bihar, this type of chutney is eaten since before. And now that is the new viral social media!
What is required to make banana peel chutney?
- Two raw bananas
- A chopped onion
- 4-5 cloves of garlic
- One-inch-sized pieces of ginger
- Crush two green chillies
- A dry chilli
- A teaspoon of whole cumin seeds
- One tablespoon of mustard oil
- Salt in moderation
- Chopped coriander leaves
- A lemon juice
the method
Boil the raw banana. Peel for chutney. The cooked shell inside is not used in this cooking. You can make any other curry or kopta with it. When cool, grate the banana peel.
When the mustard oil is hot in the pan, add the whole cumin seeds. Add crushed ginger, garlic, green chillies, onion, dry chillies one by one. Stir until fragrant. Put grated banana peel in it. Add enough salt. Keep stirring again. When the makho becomes mushy, spread the coriander leaves. Keep stirring for a while longer.
Take it down when done. When cool, paste the mixture in a blender. But in Shilpata Batla, the concentration is in exactly the right proportion. Take it out in a bowl, spread lemon juice, few drops of mustard oil.

It can be eaten as chutney with bread and chapati. But Bengalis can eat it as bharta too, mixed with hot rice. There will be no need for dal-curry, this chutney will end the dish full of rice!
Very easy to make. The materials are also not expensive. As a result, you can make banana peel chutney at home. This vegetarian pada is incomparable in taste and smell.
