Celtic Football Club has officially confirmed the appointment of Martin O’Neill as the team’s Football Manager on a one-year contract, which also includes an option for an additional year.

Martin’s long-standing association with Celtic has already brought nine major trophies to the club, most recently leading the team to its fifth successive league championship and a memorable Scottish Cup and league double just last month.

During his illustrious tenure, Martin achieved a historic milestone by guiding Celtic to their first domestic Treble in 32 years during his debut season in 2001. He also took the club to the prestigious European final in Seville in 2003.

In the most recent season, he inspired Celtic to their 56th Premiership crown by winning the final seven league fixtures and capping off one of the most dramatic conclusions in Scottish football history by securing his fourth — and the club’s 43rd — Scottish Cup triumph.

Celtic’s Interim Chairman Brian Wilson said: “I warmly welcome Martin’s reappointment and look forward to more of the same leadership, inspiration, and success that he has consistently delivered for the club.

“The achievements of Martin and the team in the season just gone provide a strong foundation for the campaign ahead.

“This marks the beginning of a busy summer, and we will ensure that we are fully prepared to compete at the highest level, with Martin once again leading the charge.”

Expressing his delight at signing the new deal, Martin O’Neill said: “It is once again a tremendous honour for me to continue as Celtic manager. Last season will remain unforgettable for all of us, and being part of that success has greatly strengthened my drive to keep achieving and to bring more joy to our supporters.”

“Of course, none of this success would have been possible without the players and staff. I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to them for their focus, determination, and talent in bringing home the league and cup double.”

“I would also like to thank the Board for inviting me back and giving me this opportunity once again.”

“Celtic can never afford to rest on past achievements, so our goal now is to push forward together in the coming season and deliver once more for the club and our fans.”

“I am deeply grateful to our supporters for their continued backing — it means everything to us. I look forward to returning to Celtic Park next season when we will unite again and strive to bring our fans the success they truly deserve.”

Celtic Chief Executive Michael Nicholson added: “We are extremely pleased to retain Martin as our manager. His vast knowledge and experience were crucial for us last season, and we are confident that his leadership will be vital as we move ahead.”

“He is a proven winner, someone who knows how to deliver results, and a manager in whom we have complete faith to guide the team through the next chapter.”

“The club faces important challenges ahead, and our immediate focus is to ensure we are fully prepared to face them with confidence and to bring continued success for our supporters.”

Celtic’s principal shareholder Dermot Desmond commented: “Time and again, Martin has demonstrated his exceptional qualities and what he brings to Celtic.”

“We know he is a winner, we know how much the club means to him, and he remains the outstanding candidate to help us achieve our ambitions.”

“He understands the demands and expectations at Celtic, and I know how driven he is to bring further success to the club and our fans.”

“The club will once again give Martin its full backing throughout the close season to ensure we are well prepared to achieve domestic triumphs and to compete strongly in Europe.”
