Bihar Government Reviews Effective Implementation of Prohibition Laws

Today, a high-level review meeting was convened under the leadership of Bihar's Minister for Prohibition, Excise, and Registration, Mr. Madan Sahni, to discuss the effective and robust implementation of the prohibition law. The meeting was attended by key officials including Secretary Ajay Yadav, Commissioner of Excise Anshul Agarwal, I.G. of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Nishit Kumar Ujwal, I.G. of Railways Pankaj Kumar Raj, D.I.G. of Prohibition Ajay Kumar Pandey, Director of Patna Airport C.P. Dwivedi, and senior officials from various departments including Danapur, Sonpur, Samastipur, Katihar, and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay RPF.


 


During the meeting, a comprehensive review of the current status of compliance with the prohibition law in the state was conducted. Discussions also focused on effective measures to prevent the production, storage, and trafficking of illegal alcohol, strengthening coordination among various departments, enhancing community participation in awareness campaigns, and outlining future action plans.


 


The Minister directed all relevant agencies to work collaboratively to ensure the effective enforcement of the prohibition law and to take stringent action against illegal alcohol. He emphasized the need to expedite the destruction process of seized illegal alcohol and set a target for 100% destruction of confiscated illegal alcohol across all districts within a specified timeframe.


 


Furthermore, the Minister instructed that regular verification and inspection of all warehouses should be conducted to maintain full transparency in the storage and destruction processes of seized materials. He also called for strict legal action against major traffickers involved in the illegal alcohol trade and directed that FIRs be filed as necessary. Stressing the need for enhanced monitoring at border areas and checkpoints, the Minister instructed that thorough inspections of large vehicles entering the state be conducted, and special operations be launched to seize illegal alcohol before it crosses state borders.




To effectively control illegal alcohol trafficking via railways, the Minister directed railway authorities and relevant agencies to coordinate their efforts. He suggested that regular inspection campaigns be conducted on major trains arriving in Bihar, particularly the Rajdhani Express, Tejas Express, and other significant trains, to curb illegal alcohol trafficking through rail routes.


 


The Minister also instructed the Director of Patna Airport to initiate a comprehensive awareness campaign among air travelers regarding the effective implementation of the prohibition law in Bihar. He requested that information boards, digital displays, and announcements regarding the prohibition law and its provisions be made available to passengers within the airport premises. It was also decided that all relevant departments and agencies would work together to ensure the successful implementation of the prohibition law and strengthen the information-sharing mechanism. The Minister reiterated the Bihar government's commitment to building a drug-free society and assured that strict actions against violations of the prohibition law would continue.
