Katra-Haridwar Special Train: Indian Railways has introduced a special service for devotees wishing to visit the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya. In light of the heavy rush of passengers and devotees, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway has decided to run a special train. Operating between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Haridwar, this train will provide convenience to pilgrims and help alleviate the pressure caused by overcrowding. According to railway officials, this special service has been launched keeping in mind the rising number of travelers undertaking this religious journey.

Train Details

This special train will operate with the numbers 04606/04605. Train number 04606 will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 6:15 PM on June 14 (Sunday) and arrive in Haridwar at 6:30 AM the following day. For the return journey, train number 04605 will depart from Haridwar at 5:20 PM on June 15 and reach Katra at 7:00 AM the next day.

Reservation Mandatory

Northern Railway has stated that this train will be fully reserved and will consist of 16 coaches. All necessary arrangements have been made to ensure passenger safety, convenience, and smooth operations. The railways have clarified that only passengers with reservations will be allowed to travel on this train, which will help in managing the crowd.

Decision Driven by Rising Pilgrim Numbers

Uchat Singhal, Divisional Commercial Manager (Jammu Railway), stated that a significant increase in the number of devotees visiting Mata Vaishno Devi Katra is observed on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya. Both Haridwar and Katra are sites of immense religious significance, attracting large numbers of devotees from across the country for worship and ritual bathing. This special train is being introduced to facilitate travel for these passengers.

Relief for Passengers

This special train will not only offer pilgrims a comfortable travel option but will also reduce the strain on regular train services. The Railways has appealed to passengers to book their tickets on time and follow the rules during their journey.
