Lucknow witnessed a sudden change in weather on Sunday as heavy rain accompanied by b winds swept across the city, altering conditions within minutes. Dark clouds covered the sky, creating near-darkness during daytime hours.

Strong winds caused tree branches to break in several areas, while power supply was disrupted at some locations. The Meteorological Department issued a red alert for severe storms in Lucknow and surrounding areas, warning of heavy rainfall, lightning and b winds. Wind speeds in some areas may reach between 60 and 80 kilometres per hour. Residents have been advised to leave their homes only when necessary.

Rainfall led to waterlogging on roads in several parts of the city. People returning from offices and those present in markets faced difficulties due to the sudden change in weather conditions.

For the past several days, temperatures in Lucknow and across Uttar Pradesh had remained around 40 degrees Celsius. Hot winds and humidity had made outdoor movement difficult. Following Sunday’s rainfall, a drop in temperature was recorded. Meteorologists said the change is being driven by pre-monsoon activity and active weather systems.

According to the Meteorological Department, thunderstorms, lightning and rainfall may continue in Lucknow and nearby districts for the next several hours. People have been advised to stay away from open fields, trees and electric poles. The administration has also placed emergency services on alert to respond promptly to any situation.

The city’s temperature is expected to decline further because of the rain and cloud cover, which may provide relief from the heat over the next one to two days. However, the Meteorological Department has cautioned that b winds and lightning during adverse weather conditions could cause damage.

Weather conditions in Lucknow have become pleasant, but authorities and the Meteorological Department continue to monitor the situation in view of the red alert. Residents have been urged to follow the latest weather advisories and remain in safe locations.
