Group A-F Standings of the 2026 World Cup: Two Asian Teams Triumph, Germany and Sweden Run Riot, Brazil Held to a Draw

Six groups have completed their opening week of matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Across Groups A to F, two Asian representatives secured victories, while two European sides recorded emphatic wins.

The two Asian teams that emerged victorious were South Korea and Australia.

South Korea defeated the Czech Republic with a 2-1 scoreline.

South Korea’s goals came from Hwang In-beom in the 67th minute and Oh Hyeon-gyu in the 80th minute.

The Czech Republic had initially taken the lead through Ladislav Krejci’s strike in the 59th minute.

Meanwhile, Australia pulled off a surprising 2-0 win over Turkey.

The Australian goals were scored by Nestory Irankunda in the 27th minute and Connor Metcalfe in the 75th minute.

Elsewhere, Germany and Sweden both recorded dominant victories.

Germany demolished Curacao with a 7-1 scoreline.

Kai Havertz bagged a brace, scoring from the penalty spot in the 45th minute and adding another in the 88th minute.

The remaining five goals for Germany came from Felix Nmecha (6’), Nico Schlotterbeck (38’), Jamal Musiala (47’), Nathaniel Brown (68’), and Deniz Undav (78’).

Curacao’s sole reply came through Livano Comenencia in the 21st minute.

In another high-scoring encounter, Sweden cruised to a 5-1 victory over Tunisia.

Liverpool forward Alexander Isak and Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres both found the net for Sweden.

Yasin Ayari scored twice, in the 7th and 90+6th minutes, while Mattias Svanberg added another in the 84th minute.

Tunisia’s only goal came from Omar Rekik in the 43rd minute.
