Boost for Local Jersey Businesses in Solo
One of the local jersey business owners in Solo, Nofi Setiawan of NS Jersey, shared his story and predictions for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Nofi started his jersey business back in high school, inspired by his marketing studies.
“I began this business during school for a practical marketing exam. It started from a hobby, and I continued selling jerseys after graduation,” said Nofi Setiawan on Wednesday, 10 June 2026.
He explained that the business grew significantly after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Initially, it was just a hobby around 2020. But after the pandemic hit, I decided to take it seriously and expand,” he continued.
He noted that public demand for jerseys usually increases after the group stage of the World Cup.
According to Nofi, European teams such as Germany and France are the most popular among buyers, followed by Brazil and Argentina from South America.
“Germany and France are always the top sellers. Portugal jerseys also sell well, mostly because of Ronaldo. Argentina and Brazil are also very popular, while England and the Netherlands are less in demand,” he explained.
Interestingly, Netherlands jerseys are mostly shipped to eastern Indonesia due to the region’s historical ties with the Dutch.
“We often send Netherlands jerseys to eastern Indonesia because many people there have Dutch ancestry,” Nofi added.
He said customers usually choose jerseys based on three main factors: design, favourite player or team, and budget.
“From my experience, people buy jerseys mainly for three reasons — design, their favourite player or team, and affordability,” he said.
Nofi shared that it’s always memorable when old stock suddenly becomes popular again if a team performs well in the World Cup.
“It’s satisfying when old stock sells because the team advances far in the tournament — for example, Argentina in 2022,” he said.
He also mentioned that he has shipped jerseys as far as Papua and Maluku, often in bulk orders of up to 12 pieces to save on shipping costs.
“I’ve sent jerseys to Papua and Maluku, usually directly to individuals, not resellers. They often group orders with friends to reduce shipping costs,” Nofi said.
