A high-level meeting was held at the Delhi Secretariat recently to ensure the 2026 Kanwar Yatra is safe and well-organized. It was decided during this meeting that registration for all Kanwar committees would start on July 1, 2026.
During the review meeting chaired by Rekha Gupta, instructions were issued to ensure that pilgrims face no inconvenience during the journey. A six-member special committee, led by Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra, has been formed to oversee the smooth conduct of the Yatra and will coordinate with all relevant departments.
When does the month of Sawan begin?
This year, the holy month of Sawan is considered particularly significant for Kanwar pilgrims and devotees of Lord Shiva. According to the *Panchang* (Hindu calendar), it will begin on July 30 and continue until August 28. During this period, the atmosphere in Delhi and surrounding areas will be filled with devotion, and the chants of "Bam-Bam Bhole" will resonate everywhere. The government is emphasizing the provision of better facilities for pilgrims this time. The Delhi Government, Police, MCD, and PWD are working together on preparations for the Yatra. Pilgrims will see several new and improved arrangements at the Kanwar camps this year.

- Registration must be completed online or through the prescribed procedure as soon as the registration window opens on July 1.
- It will be mandatory to work in coordination with the MCD to maintain cleanliness in and around the camp.
- Complete details regarding the devotees and volunteers visiting the camp must be shared with the local police.
- According to the Chief Minister, ensuring the safety and service of every *Shiv-bhakt* (devotee of Lord Shiva) passing through Delhi is a priority for the government this year.
