UPSC Prelims Result 2026: The results for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Preliminary Examination were released late Monday night. The Commission has published the results in PDF format on its official website, upsc.gov.in. Approximately 5.49 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, competing for a total of 1,013 vacancies—comprising 933 Civil Services posts and 80 Indian Forest Service (IFoS) posts. Candidates can now check their results on the Commission's website. A total of 13,343 candidates have been shortlisted for the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026.
UPSC conducted the preliminary examination on May 24. In a significant move, the Commission released the provisional answer key just four days later, on May 28.

A total of 14,161 candidates passed the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination in 2025, whereas 13,343 candidates have been selected for the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026, this year.

UPSC Prelims Result 2026 Updates: When will the Mains exam take place?
UPSC is scheduled to conduct the CSE Main Examination on August 21, 2026. Therefore, candidates who have successfully cleared the first stage of the examination should begin their preparations for the Main examination.
Candidates who have qualified for the exam will be required to pay a fee.
A window will be provided for all qualifying candidates to submit or update their details. A fee of ₹200 must also be paid to appear for the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026.
