Decision has been confirmed ahead of England’s Group L opener in Dallas.
Nearly a week after the tournament began, Thomas Tuchel’s men are set for their toughest Group L challenge against the side that knocked them out in the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.
England have had to make a late adjustment to their squad following Tino Livramento’s injury, which rules him out for the remainder of the summer.
As the officially designated ‘Team A’ for the match in Dallas, England will take to the field in their home kit.
The previous home kit, worn four years ago, featured blue accents on the shoulders and neckline. This year’s design, however, embraces a more classic look.
The new outfit is predominantly white with navy blue trim and red elements, including player numbers. Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford will be wearing a yellow kit.
Meanwhile, Croatia will wear their away strip—an all-blue ensemble—with their goalkeeper set to appear in magenta.
There is less pressure regarding qualification compared to earlier World Cups, as 32 out of 48 teams will advance to the knockout rounds.
Nonetheless, England will aim to begin strongly against Croatia to position themselves well for finishing at the top of their group.
Topping the group would ensure a round-of-32 matchup against one of the third-placed teams. However, finishing second would likely result in a clash with the runner-up from Group K.
That scenario could see them facing either Portugal or Colombia, with a potential last-16 encounter against Spain.
