The 57 day holy Baba Barfani i.e. Amarnath Yatra is going to start from 3rd July. All preparations for the journey have been completed. Administration and police are in alert mode. While on one hand the administration is making every possible effort to facilitate the pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath Yatra, on the other hand the security forces have geared up for the safety of the pilgrims. Security arrangements have been tightened in Jammu and Kashmir.
Kashmir Inspector General of Police (IGP) V.K. Birdi has directed the security forces to remain on full alert and maintain a high level of operational preparedness, so that any security or logistics challenges that may arise during the yatra can be effectively dealt with. IGP Kashmir held a meeting with zonal and sector level officers and gave them necessary directions. During this, a detailed review of the security arrangements deployed on the yatra routes, coordination between various agencies and preparations was done.
Let us inform that the security forces have made strict security arrangements in the mountains, forests, rivers, drains, highways and railway tracks from Kathua in Jammu to Srinagar. Along with this, the Indian Army has deployed dedicated unmanned aerial systems equipped with anti-drone systems and electronic warfare equipment to deal with drone threats on the travel route.
Hi-tech surveillance on Amarnath Yatra route
State-of-the-art cameras equipped with face recognition system have been installed at identified places on the major routes of Amarnath Yatra. Apart from this, an extensive network of CCTV cameras has been installed at all the base camps and sensitive points along the yatra route. The Army has also deployed Quick Reaction Team (QRT) and Quick Action Team (QAT) as well as bomb disposal squads, dog squads and mountain rescue teams to secure the yatra route.
According to officials, the army has set up a strategic barricade on the yatra route and the adjacent hills. The soldiers are continuously conducting search operations in the concerned areas, so that if any terrorist is hiding, he can be found and neutralized and the safety of the yatra can be ensured.
Instructions to maintain constant monitoring and vigilance
IGP VK Birdi directed the officers to regularly brief the personnel deployed in their respective areas, so that all the security personnel are fully aware of their responsibilities and the prevailing security situation. He laid special emphasis on maintaining constant monitoring and ensuring effective communication system.
Further, he directed to ensure better coordination, joint response mechanism and prompt exchange of information between security forces and other concerned agencies. Birdi said that the safety, convenience and assistance of devotees should be given top priority while on duty. Also, security forces personnel should adopt sensitive and friendly behavior towards common people and passengers.
