Sayantani Ghosh Based Stereotypes In TV Industry: Sayantani Ghosh has recently made a big revelation related to the entertainment industry. He told how he was discriminated against.
Well-known TV industry actress Sayantani Ghosh has shared an experience related to her career, which has once again fueled the debate on apartheid and stereotyping in the entertainment industry. During a recent conversation, the actress revealed that she was many times thrown out of projects just because of her dark complexion. Sayantani Ghosh, who has worked in many popular TV shows including Naagin, Tera Yaar Hoon Main, Jagaddhatri, said that in the industry, actors are often judged on the basis of their looks and skin tone rather than their talent. However, he also said that he finds joy in proving all such things wrong.
Project lost due to dark complexion
During the conversation, Sayantani recalled an experience and said that once he was finalized for a project, but he was replaced at the last moment. The only reason was that the producers of the show wanted a fair-skinned actress for that character because that character was of a Punjabi woman. According to the actress, this experience was quite disappointing for her, but she never let it become her weakness. He always believed in his acting and hard work.

Sayantani Ghosh said - 'Dusky actresses are restricted'
Sayantani says that in the TV and entertainment industry, dark skinned actresses are often limited to Bengali or South Indian roles. People have this perception that dusky skin tone is perfect only for characters from certain communities or regions. He said that this thinking needs to be changed because acting should be related to the talent of the artist and not to his colour.
Sayantani told that there came an occasion in his career when he proved this thinking completely wrong. She played the role of a Sardarni in the TV show Tera Yaar Hoon Main. This role was very special for her because usually fair skinned actresses are given preference for such roles. She told that the makers of the show had told her that they first wanted a good actress. The team will handle the character's look, language and other preparations. This thought inspired him a lot.

According to Sayantani, after the telecast of the show, he got a lot of positive reaction from the audience. Many people told him that if they had not already known that he was Bengali, they would have believed that he was actually a Punjabi. He told that the director of the show was Punjabi and he helped him a lot in understanding the language, pronunciation and behavior of the character. Because of this she could play her role with complete honesty. Sayantani Ghosh believes that actors should be recognized by their acting and hard work and not by their looks. He has proved with his experience that if given an opportunity, any star can play any kind of character effectively.
