Shrishti Dubey, a determined NEET aspirant, faced a life-altering road accident on June 14, just a week before her rescheduled national eligibility entrance test. The incident left her with nine broken ribs and multiple lung injuries, necessitating immediate major vascular surgery and subsequent artificial ventilation. According to reports, she was later extubated and began her recovery process, but her chances of participating in the NEET re-examination appeared extremely slim.
In a bid to support his daughter, Shreeram Shiwji Dubey, a primary school teacher, reached out to the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan. He provided her roll number and examination center details, explaining Shrishti's situation and her strong desire to take the exam. He also mentioned that ILS Hospital was prepared to offer the required medical assistance, including a doctor and paramedics.
Given her condition, the request was straightforward: Shrishti needed a ground-floor seating arrangement with a chair and table, along with permission to bring essential medical equipment like her chest drain. Thankfully, the Union Minister granted their request.
Thanks to Pradhan's intervention, Shrishti was able to sit for the re-examination at Binodini Girls High School, where she received medical support and had an ambulance on standby. During the exam, Pradhan even called her father to inquire about her well-being and expressed his intention to meet them during his visit to Kolkata. He conveyed his hopes that Shrishti would excel and fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor.
The NEET 2026 exam was originally set for May 3 but was postponed due to a paper leak. It was ultimately rescheduled for June 21, when over 20 lakh students participated in the test across various locations.
