Manchester City are reportedly on the verge of finalising a high-value transfer for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson — a move that could have a ripple effect on Inter Milan’s summer market activity. As per reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, the England international’s prospective switch to the Etihad Stadium might allow the Nerazzurri to achieve multiple objectives simultaneously.
Valued at approximately £150 million, Anderson has become one of the most coveted midfielders in the Premier League. Although Manchester United have pursued him for some time, the 23-year-old is now set to join their cross-town rivals, with medical examinations expected to take place in the United States.
Should Anderson complete his move to Manchester City, Nottingham Forest would need to re-enter the transfer market to find his replacement. Inter Milan’s out-of-favour midfielder Davide Frattesi has emerged as a prime candidate to fill that gap. The Italian remains among Forest’s leading targets, but they must first finalise Anderson’s sale before advancing on any deal for the former Sassuolo player.
The substantial funds generated from Anderson’s transfer would provide Forest with a major financial boost, positioning them ahead of Napoli and Juventus in the competition to sign Frattesi. Meanwhile, Inter have officially placed the midfielder on the transfer list following another underwhelming campaign.
If Frattesi were to move to the City Ground, the transfer could bring around €25 million into Inter’s account. This cash injection would not only strengthen the club’s finances but also clear space in midfield as they continue their pursuit of Liverpool’s Curtis Jones — a player who nearly joined the Nerazzurri during the January transfer window.
With Frattesi’s departure and additional funds secured, Inter would gain both financial flexibility and the means to restructure their midfield. Jones had already reached personal terms with the Serie A title holders before Liverpool decided to halt negotiations earlier this year.
However, it now seems that the delay may have only postponed what could soon become a reality.
