We tell you, just making a round chapati and puffing it up does nothing. Also, care should be taken while keeping it in a chapati box or basket otherwise it may harden quickly. On social media, Shipra Rai has shared some simple home-made tips to keep chapatis soft for longer. The science behind these home remedies helps keep chapatis soft for longer. Let’s find out in detail.

The secret to keeping bowls in bins

Often when we put hot chapatis in a container immediately, water accumulates at the bottom which causes the chapatis to absorb the water. This makes the chapati moist and sticky. According to Shipra Rai, before placing the chapatis in the container, first place a small bowl in the container and then start placing all the chapatis on top of that bowl. This does not make the chapati moist at all.

Use cotton cloth

After placing the bowl in the container, do not place the chapatis directly on it. After placing the bowl, spread a clean and dry cotton or muslin cloth tightly in the bowl and then place the hot chapatis on it. This cloth absorbs excess steam from the chapatis so that the chapatis do not become soggy. The combined use of bowls and cotton cloth maintains air balance around the hives, keeping them fresh.

How do chapattis stay soft?

Often people use plastic or aluminum foil to protect the skin from hardening, but this use can be harmful to our health. The traditional method preserves the natural moisture in the hives. The use of a bowl keeps the air circulating at the bottom and absorbs all the moisture in the cotton cloth. This keeps the chapattis soft from morning till night.
