Rakshabandhan is considered a very sacred festival in Sanatan Dharma. This festival is a symbol of the unbreakable love and trust between brother and sister. This year the festival of Rakshabandhan will be celebrated on 28th August. Coincidentally, a lunar eclipse is also going to occur on this day, which will be the last lunar eclipse of this year. The festival will be affected due to the lunar eclipse. For this reason, on one hand many people will not tie Rakhi to their brother on that day, while on the other hand many people will follow all the traditions of Rakshabandhan on that day.

Many people are in dilemma about celebrating the festival of Rakshabandhan this year. While some people believe that the festival of Rakshabandhan should not be celebrated because of the lunar eclipse, on the other hand many women will tie Rakhi to their brothers on the day of the lunar eclipse. In such a situation, the question arises whether tying Rakhi on the day of lunar eclipse will have any negative effect? Let us know the answer to this question.

When will the lunar eclipse occur?

According to astrologers, on August 28, the lunar eclipse will start at 6:53 am and will last till 12:32 pm. That means the eclipse is going to last for a total of 5 hours 39 minutes. This eclipse is also called blood moon.

According to religious belief, auspicious work should not be done till 9 hours before the lunar eclipse. Many people believe that Sutak period begins with the lunar eclipse and auspicious work should not be done during that time. Now the question arises whether Rakshabandhan can be celebrated on that day or not.

Should Rakshabandhan be celebrated?

According to astrologers, the red shadow of the lunar eclipse will not be visible in India on August 28. When the lunar eclipse itself will not be visible, it will not have any negative effects. Also, Sutak period will also not be considered valid in India. For this reason, all the devotees in India should celebrate the festival of Rakshabandhan on that day.

This year, on 28th August, everyone can follow the traditions of Rakshabandhan. This clearly means that all the devotees can perform puja on the day of Rakshabandhan and can also tie Rakhi to their brother.
