UP Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: There is good news for young aspirants dreaming of becoming professors in government-aided colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Preparations have begun to fill a large number of vacant Assistant Professor posts in the state's non-government aided colleges. The Higher Education Department has initiated the selection process after gathering details of vacancies from various colleges.
**Likelihood of Recruitment for Over 1,600 Posts**
Initially, it was estimated that recruitment would take place for approximately 1,150 posts, but several colleges subsequently reported additional vacancies. Consequently, the total number of posts has risen to over 1,600. These vacancies are now undergoing final verification before being forwarded to the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission. The recruitment process is expected to be finalized soon.
**Continuous Collection of Data from Colleges**
The Directorate of Higher Education has instructed colleges to provide accurate information regarding vacant posts. Following strict directives from the department, many institutions have reported new vacancies. Officials believe the final figure could increase further, as reports from some colleges are still pending.
**Potential Increase in Principal Recruitment**
The scope for recruitment extends beyond Assistant Professors to include the position of Principal in aided colleges. Details regarding 111 vacant Principal posts have already been submitted to the Selection Commission. Verification reports from several colleges are still awaited, which could lead to a further increase in the number of vacancies.
**New Posts to be Created in 'Chief Minister Model Composite Schools'**
The state government is establishing 'Chief Minister Model Composite Schools' to strengthen the modern education system. These schools will offer education from pre-nursery through Class 12. Preparations are underway to create new teaching posts for these institutions. The government has sought reports from relevant officials regarding the number of teachers required to ensure the smooth functioning of these schools.
**New Schools to Feature Modern Amenities**
A total of 150 'Chief Minister Model Composite Schools' are to be established across the state. Construction work has already commenced for the majority of these schools. Instruction in these schools will be provided in the English medium, and each school will have the capacity to accommodate approximately 1,500 students.
Modern facilities such as smart classrooms, digital libraries, computer labs, AI and robotics labs, language labs, and skill development centers will be made available at these institutions. The government aims to ensure that students in government schools also receive high-quality, technology-driven education comparable to that of private schools.
Increased employment opportunities for the youth
Positions for assistant professors, principals, and teachers in the new model schools could create fresh employment opportunities for thousands of educated young people in the state. Once the recruitment process is completed, the shortage of teachers in both the higher education and school education sectors can be significantly addressed.
