France will aim to build on their impressive opening World Cup triumph over Senegal when they face Iraq on Monday, hoping to secure a spot in the knockout stage.
A double strike from Kylian Mbappe helped the 1998 and 2018 champions overcome Senegal last week, and another three points will confirm France's progression to the round of 32.
For Iraq, appearing in their second World Cup after their 1986 appearance, the focus will be on bouncing back from a heavy 4-1 defeat to Norway in their opening game.
The BBC will provide live coverage of the France vs Iraq encounter in the United Kingdom on BBC One. It will be the second match in an exciting double-header on the network, following Argentina’s Group J meeting with Austria.
The broadcast will be anchored by Match of the Day co-presenter Kelly Cates, who leads the BBC’s coverage of the game. She will be joined in the studio by three former Premier League and international footballers.
Olivier Giroud, who was recently surpassed by Kylian Mbappe as France’s all-time top scorer after the Real Madrid forward’s brace against Senegal, will again be part of the analysis team, offering insights on his former national teammates. The ex-Arsenal and Chelsea striker brings a wealth of experience to the panel.
Providing a defender’s perspective will be Gael Clichy, another former Arsenal and France player. The 40-year-old earned 20 international caps and won the Premier League three times during his decorated career with Arsenal and Manchester City.
Completing the in-studio team is Joe Hart, the former Manchester City goalkeeper who represented England 75 times. Hart featured in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups and will bring his first-hand tournament experience to the broadcast team.
In the commentary box at the Philadelphia Stadium, veteran broadcaster Steve Wilson will handle play-by-play duties. Wilson has been a familiar voice on the BBC since the late 1990s, known for his detailed and engaging match commentary.
He will be joined by former Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Leeds United left-back Stephen Warnock. The 44-year-old, who earned two England caps and was part of the 2010 World Cup squad, will provide co-commentary and tactical analysis from the gantry.
