These patients included a Yemeni resident who suffered a heart attack in an isolated area. Meanwhile, a Sudanese resident was taken to the hospital via air ambulance after he was bitten by a snake while working in a field on Hail-Qassim Road.

Apart from this, the air ambulance also helped two other people injured in road accidents. One of these accidents took place on Prince Saud Road and the other in Montazah area.

Terms and importance of air ambulance service

In Saudi Arabia, air ambulances are used when the patient’s condition is very critical or he is in a place that is difficult to reach by road. This service is especially important for time-sensitive cases such as heart attack, serious injury and respiratory failure.

According to government rules, it is mandatory to obtain written approval from the hospital before transporting any patient by air ambulance. Bringing a patient to the emergency room without approval is not considered legal.

Under Saudi Vision 2030, the government is running Air Ambulance Services Program (AASP). Its aim is to provide better health services to the people living in rural areas of the country. Under this program, more than 25 helicopters and 5 planes are being used so that patients can be transported to specialist doctors as quickly as possible.
