Bruna Biancardi has responded strongly to critics who refer to her as a “trophy wife,” affirming that she remains entirely financially independent from Neymar. The Brazilian influencer and mother of two spoke openly about her career, her personal responsibilities, and the truth behind her relationship with Brazil’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Financial independence and challenging stereotypes
Speaking candidly in an interview on the podcast Elas Que Jogam with Karla Felmanas, Biancardi addressed the widespread belief that she depends on Neymar’s fortune. With over 15 million followers on social media, she clarified that she has built her own successful career and manages her finances without relying on the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star.
“People assume we don’t work, that we stay home, that we’re trophy wives. I say, ‘Wait a minute, I have my jobs, I pay my team, I have salaries to cover. I make my own money, I pay my bills,’” she explained. Biancardi stressed that she is not simply the partner of a famous footballer, but a businesswoman responsible for a team of professionals who depend on her leadership.
Beyond the ‘influencer’ label
Biancardi’s professional work goes far beyond typical social media activities. She recently launched a YouTube project titled Bru Na Cozinha (“Bru in the Kitchen”), where she interviews and cooks with prominent women such as Giullia Buscaccio and Lore Improta. This project complements her involvement in major advertising campaigns for international brands, reflecting her broader vision as an entrepreneur.
Even as her partner faces the demands of top-level football, Biancardi remains focused on her business ventures. Neymar, now fully fit again, is preparing to lead Brazil’s front line, with both partners pursuing their respective careers while maintaining a strong family connection.
Family planning during a World Cup cycle
The couple, who are parents to Mavie and Mel, have balanced family life with the rigours of international football. During the interview, Bruna revealed that her pregnancy was planned, despite the unpredictability of Neymar’s career schedule. “Yes, we were already thinking, ‘Oh, let’s have a third,’” she said, recalling the conversation that led to their decision to expand their family.
She also shared that she discovered her pregnancy just one day before the official announcement of Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. This overlap of personal joy and professional duty has become symbolic of their relationship, as they juggle parenting with the intense demands of representing the Selecao.
World Cup fitness boost and a love tested by challenges
While Bruna has faced criticism over her image, she has also been a steadfast supporter of Neymar during his recovery from a calf injury. The forward missed Brazil’s opening World Cup group matches against Morocco and Haiti but has now returned to the squad for their upcoming clash with Scotland.
Neymar’s comeback aligns with a period of renewed stability in their relationship following earlier ups and downs. Bruna recalled how she eventually grew frustrated with the uncertainty between them. “We were in this back-and-forth, back-and-forth, back-and-forth. Then I got fed up,” she said. “I told him, ‘You know what? I already warned you I’d reach my limit. I’ve reached it—I can’t take it anymore. It was wonderful, I loved meeting you, I love you, but I’ve had enough.’”
This moment proved pivotal. Shortly after, Neymar surprised her by inviting her to Paris for her birthday and formally asking her to be his girlfriend. “I arrived and saw my father, my mother, my sister there. He had brought everyone without me knowing,” she recounted.
Now, with their relationship stronger than ever, Bruna continues to build her brand and uphold her independence while supporting a partner who remains one of football’s brightest stars and the bearer of Brazil’s national hopes.
