DON'T MISS A MOMENT OF THE WORLD CUP

New York City FC (NYCFC) are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing United States Men's National Team (USMNT) captain Christian Pulisic, but Serie A club AC Milan have made it clear that the American forward is not available for transfer. Reports from The Athletic indicate that several MLS sides are keen to bring Pulisic to North America following the 2026 FIFA World Cup, though Milan remain unwilling to part ways with one of their marquee players.

NYCFC's pursuit

The Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit has been associated with multiple high-profile transfer rumours in recent months. With their new stadium in Queens scheduled to open in 2027, speculation has been rife that the club may mark the occasion with a marquee signing. In its early years, the City Football Group club attracted global stars such as Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo, and David Villa. However, in recent seasons, NYCFC have shifted to a more collective, team-oriented approach when assembling their squad.

According to The Athletic, a potential move for Pulisic would represent a significant boost for the club’s future home, Etihad Park.

Pulisic’s campaign with Milan

Pulisic’s tenure at AC Milan has been somewhat mixed. The winger enjoyed a strong start to the 2025–26 Serie A season, emerging as one of the standout players in the league during the opening months. However, his form tailed off after December 2025, and he failed to score again for the remainder of the campaign. Milan ultimately missed out on qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

Across the season, Pulisic registered eight goals and four assists in all competitions.

Milan remain firm

Despite external interest, Milan hold the advantage in negotiations. Pulisic’s current contract runs until the end of 2027, with an option for extension through 2028. Reports suggest the Rossoneri are not inclined to sell the player, whom they still view as a central figure in their long-term plans, even amid broader organisational changes. Earlier this month, Milan appointed former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim following the departure of Max Allegri.

Pulisic focused on international duty

At present, Pulisic’s attention is firmly on his duties with the USMNT. Under Mauricio Pochettino, the national side has enjoyed a promising summer campaign, topping Group D after victories against both Paraguay and Australia. Although Pulisic missed the second fixture due to injury, he is expected to return for the third match, even though the United States have already secured qualification from the group stage.
