Ryan Cook has officially stepped down as the head coach of the Netherlands men's cricket team, effective immediately, as confirmed by the Royal Dutch Cricket Association (KNCB) on Wednesday. This decision comes on the heels of the arrival of Cook's second child with his partner, Emma.
Taking over as interim head coach is Heino Kuhn, a former South Africa international who previously worked as the batting coach under Cook. Kuhn will lead the team in their upcoming fixtures for the Cricket World Cup League 2. Cook, who took the reins of the Netherlands men's team in May 2022, has been at the helm during one of the most successful chapters in Dutch cricket history.
"Coaching the Dutch men's team has, without a shadow of a doubt, been one of the highlights of my coaching career so far," Cook said in a KNCB statement.
"It has been an absolute pleasure to lead the journey towards professionalism and to help build a competitive cricket team with strong values.
"I thank everyone at the KNCB and the Dutch cricket community for their continued support throughout the years. The KNCB and the team deserve someone who can give the role the full, sustained focus and presence it now requires. I know the foundations are strong and the future is bright."

Under his guidance, the Netherlands not only qualified for the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia but also pulled off some unforgettable wins against Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Additionally, the team secured a spot in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, marking their first appearance in the tournament since 2011. Although they finished at the bottom of the standings, they still made a mark with impressive victories over South Africa and Bangladesh.
Scott Edwards, the captain of the Netherlands, expressed his gratitude for Cook's significant contributions to the team. Currently, the Netherlands holds the third position in the Cricket World Cup League 2 standings, trailing behind the USA and Scotland with 32 points from 28 matches.
As Ryan Cook departs, he leaves behind a legacy of success, having led the team through a remarkable era filled with World Cup qualifications and historic wins on the international stage. With Heino Kuhn stepping in as interim coach, the Dutch team is set to build on Cook’s achievements as they continue their journey in the Cricket World Cup League 2.
