Manchester United are gearing up for the upcoming season in full force, with the club releasing a significant update regarding their pre-season plans.
The Red Devils had an impressive 2025/26 campaign, finishing third in the Premier League and securing a return to the UEFA Champions League after a two-year hiatus.
The turning point for United came following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim and the appointment of Michael Carrick as interim manager. Carrick quickly transformed the team’s approach, introducing a more attacking and proactive style of football that re-energised both the players and supporters.
Under Carrick’s guidance, United went on an outstanding run that ensured their Champions League qualification with several matches to spare. He managed 17 Premier League fixtures, winning 12, drawing three, and losing only two.
His remarkable influence earned him the managerial role on a permanent basis. In May, Manchester United confirmed that Carrick had signed a two-year contract with the club.
Attention has now turned towards the summer transfer window and pre-season preparations. The club has officially announced the date for the players’ return to Carrington training ground.
United stated, “We can confirm that our players will report back to Carrington from Thursday, 9 July, ready to kickstart preparations for the much-anticipated new season.”
“The initial group will comprise a blend of senior players and promising Academy talents, as is typical during summers that feature international tournaments.”
“The squad will gradually expand as international players return throughout July and early August.”
Manchester United have already finalised an agreement with Atalanta for midfielder Ederson. The transfer is expected to be completed once Brazil’s participation in the World Cup concludes.
The Red Devils also have six pre-season fixtures scheduled as part of their build-up to the new campaign.
