Kajol has long mastered the art of making traditional fashion feel grand and relevant. With her latest appearance in a stunning tissue-gold saree by Indian design maestro Varun Bahl, she made the case no exception. Radiating glam like no other, she embraced a silhouette that celebrates the richness of Indian textiles while keeping a modish, sophisticated edge.

The drape was spectacularly beautiful with the glowing weave and intricate details of the dress, giving out a feeling of royalty. This piece was not just an outfit to highlight a fashion moment, but it celebrated real Indian craftsmanship. She wore this dress to an award ceremony, and everyone couldn’t help but notice the unique asymmetrical border hemline.

Picked from the designer’s A/W ’25 couture collection, Whispers of Ember, this customised piece showcased the designer’s signature embroidery and surface ornamentation techniques, which he is known for.

The drape featured a gamut of embroideries starting from aari, zardozi, nakshi, dabka, and cutdana, with different embellishments in sequins, bugles, caviar, glass beads, and exotic pearls. All these beautiful details came together to craft three-dimensional floral and foliate appliqué motifs, which were peacefully decorated along the border and some scattered like bouquets across the main bodice.

This piece celebrated the heritage of Indian craftsmanship like no other and managed to add a hint of contemporary finesse, which was seen in the sleeveless and edgy matching blouse, which came in a sculptural design with pearl-encrusted detailing.
