Recruitment for approximately 500 posts
According to the notification issued by the Commission, recruitment is currently proposed for around 500 vacant posts. However, the final number of vacancies may increase or decrease based on departmental requirements.
This recruitment drive includes several key positions such as Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Block Development Officer (BDO), Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Treasury Officer, Jail Superintendent, and District Welfare Officer.

Educational Qualification
Generally, candidates are required to hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized university. However, specific educational qualifications have been prescribed for certain posts.

How is the selection for UP PCS conducted?
The selection process will be completed in three stages:

Preliminary Examination: The preliminary examination will consist of two compulsory papers. CSAT will be a qualifying paper only; securing a minimum of 33% marks in it is mandatory.

Interview: Candidates who qualify in the main examination will be called for an interview carrying 100 marks. This stage will evaluate the candidate's personality, general awareness, decision-making ability, and administrative aptitude.
Physical standards required for certain posts
Fulfilling prescribed physical standards will be mandatory for specific posts such as DSP, Jail Superintendent, and Excise Inspector. For instance, the minimum height requirement for male candidates applying for the post of DSP is generally set at 165 cm.
Application not possible without an OTR number
UPPSC has clarified that before applying, candidates must obtain a One Time Registration (OTR) number from the official OTR portal. This process must be completed at least 72 hours before submitting the application.
If candidates make any changes to their OTR details, they must synchronize the information on the dashboard; otherwise, the updates will not reflect in the application. Application Process to be Completed in Four Stages
The application process for UPPSC PCS 2026 will be entirely online and must be completed in four stages.
Stage 1: Verification via OTR (One Time Registration) number. Following this, the candidate's personal details will be displayed automatically.
Stage 2: Candidates must fill in other required details, including address, educational qualifications, and post preferences.
Stage 3: Payment of the prescribed fee must be made online. Payment can be made via net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI.
Stage 4: After fee payment, the final application form must be submitted, and a printout should be kept for future reference.
Points to Note While Applying
The Commission has advised candidates to exercise great care while filling out the application form. Providing incorrect or misleading information may lead to the cancellation of the application. In serious cases, the candidate could be debarred from future examinations for up to five years. Candidates will be required to present all original certificates, mark sheets, and other necessary documents at the time of document verification.
