Now users will see a security warning before opening a chat from an unknown number.
The purpose of this alert is to help users identify potentially suspicious contacts and make informed decisions before initiating a conversation.
What information will appear in the warning?
The country where the phone number is registered.
Is that number part of a WhatsApp group in which you also join?
A security message warning users about a potential scam.
The warning will also remind users that scammers may try to:
Stealing personal information.
Obtaining a password or verification code.
Tricking users into sending money.
Committing other fraudulent activities.
Two options for users
Continue chat – Open a chat and continue the conversation.
Cancel chat – Exit the chat without interacting with the sender.
The purpose of this feature is to give users more control and an additional layer of security when interacting with unknown contacts.
WhatsApp is working on more new features
Apart from this security update, WhatsApp is also developing many new features to improve the user experience.
Upcoming features include:
Voice Note Widget: A special widget that can allow users to record and send voice messages directly from their phone’s home screen.
View-once text messages: The feature, which is currently being tested on iPhone, will allow users to send text messages that will disappear once viewed.
