A cafe employee in England has accused the manager of secret surveillance through CCTV audio. Because of this the work environment has become toxic and the staff feel that they are being spied upon. After complaining, his shift was also reduced.
Nowadays, CCTV cameras are installed in most of the offices and shops. But, monitoring all the time does not increase the productivity of employees, rather they become more upset and irritated. One such story is now in the headlines. A cafe employee from England has shared a post, in which he has alleged that his manager secretly records the conversations of the staff through CCTV audio.

In this post shared on Reddit, the employee has asked whether this kind of monitoring in front of customers is legally and ethically correct? She said that the workplace environment has become very toxic and she always feels like she is being closely monitored during her shift.
The employee says that the manager often listens to their conversations and monitors their behavior through CCTV. He spends a lot of time watching the footage and is quick to point out even the smallest things. It is also told in the post that once he and one of his colleagues had discussed something about the management, which the manager overheard through CCTV. After this, both of their shifts were reduced.
The employee wrote, "They feel that even the common conversations of the staff are being monitored. This place seems less like a café and more like a place where there is constant spying."
The young man wrote, "The manager secretly records our conversations and then gets angry on those things. To be honest, my manager's mental condition does not seem to be good. On the very first day, he shouted at me for keeping my phone. Since that day, he has been keeping a close watch on us. I later came to know that the CCTV installed in the cafe also records the audio. We were never told about this, nor has any notice been put up. It seems as if we are being monitored every moment. Is."
Many people have commented on this post. People have suggested that if it is just the manager, the employee should complain to the cafe owner. Many users called it an interference in privacy and asked how one can work peacefully in such an environment.
