In today's time, due to career and many other responsibilities, women have started taking the decision of pregnancy after the age of 30. Many researches have revealed that it is best to conceive pregnancy before the age of 30. Some difficulties increase when this decision is taken after the age of 35. Many questions arise in the minds of women that is it safe to conceive after the age of 35? Is it safe for mother and child to do this? Experts say that if you are planning a baby at this age, it is very important to get a health checkup done first. Actually, pregnancy can be conceived even at the age of 35, but this is called advanced maternal age.
After becoming pregnant at this age, the risk of many health problems increases, which includes high blood pressure, diabetes, premature delivery and miscarriage. Let us tell you through experts whether it is safe to do so or not? Also, what things should be taken special care of?
What do experts say
Dr. Pragya Kansal (Consultant Pregnancy Specialist and Gynecologist, Kailash Deepak Hospital) According to this, many women have this question in their mind whether it is safe to plan pregnancy after 35 years or not? According to experts, yes, it can be absolutely safe. Even today, many women at this age have a good pregnancy and give birth to a healthy child. Just after 35 years, we monitor pregnancy a little more carefully. This does not mean that there will be any problem, but only that a little more care is taken of both mother and child.
One thing you should know is that with increasing age the chances of getting pregnant gradually start decreasing. Therefore, sometimes it may take a little longer to get pregnant. Apart from this, the risk of having high BP or sugar also increases slightly during pregnancy. The risk of miscarriage, premature delivery or some genetic problems in the child may also be slightly higher than before.
Health checkup is most important
This is why I always say to plan pregnancy in advance. Whenever you think of planning a baby, consult your doctor once and get a pre-pregnancy checkup done. In this, your overall health, the medicines you are taking, your vaccines and if you have any problem like sugar or thyroid, then it is also checked so that everything remains under control.
Don't forget to take this medicine
Also, start taking folic acid even before you start trying for pregnancy. This reduces the risk of some birth related problems in the child. Eat healthy food, be a little active every day, maintain your weight and completely stay away from cigarettes or alcohol.
If proper planning is done, checkups are done from time to time with the doctor and his advice is followed, then even after 35 years, the pregnancy of most women remains safe and they give birth to a healthy child.
