A Brazilian television presenter narrowly avoided exposing his chest to millions of World Cup viewers. Everaldo Marques is a popular host for TV broadcaster Globo. He was stationed in Miami as the Selecao cruised to a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Scotland.

Like numerous matches held across the Atlantic, the sweltering conditions proved more than uncomfortable for Marques and his broadcasting crew. When the camera cut to him, he was seen fanning himself with his match notes while beads of perspiration dotted his blue shirt. Yet that wasn't the clothing mishap which left his colleagues in hysterics.

Marques spotted his co-commentator, Maestro Junior, chuckling at his sweat marks while they were broadcasting live. He swiftly responded: "You're laughing, right Maestro? You're completely dry... for now!"

The former Brazil international then remarked that matters could have been far worse for Marques had it not been for the vest he was sporting beneath.

It was at this point Marques unfastened several buttons to display a damp white undershirt.

Regrettably for him, he offered his audience considerably more than anticipated as he loosened excessive buttons and nearly exposed his entire torso.

His colleague couldn't contain his laughter at the unfortunate clothing mishap. As he opened his shirt, Marques said: "Look at this! It's not doing any good at all!"

The sole consolation for Marques is that he would not have been alone in battling the sweltering conditions in Miami.

The Florida venue has proved one of the most punishing in terms of heat throughout the tournament.

While the ambient temperature registered at 34C, the oppressive humidity pushed the feels-like figure closer to 43C. Yet Marques' fellow Brazilian did not buckle under the extreme conditions during their crucial encounter with Scotland.

Vinicius Junior struck twice emphatically in the opening period before Matheus Cunha sealed matters in the 60th minute to clinch a 3-0 victory.

They progressed from Group C as winners ahead of Morocco, Scotland and Haiti, with Carlo Ancelotti's men set to meet Japan in the round of 32.
