On Friday, a serious accident occurred in Thrissur district, Kerala, involving a head-on collision between two private buses, resulting in several passengers sustaining injuries. One of the drivers became trapped in his cabin due to the impact. Emergency services conducted a rescue operation that lasted approximately 30 minutes to free the driver.
The incident took place when two buses operating on the Amballur-Kallur and Amballur-Palappilly routes collided. The force of the crash was so severe that the front ends of both vehicles were completely crushed. The driver, identified as Nirmal, was stuck in the severely damaged cabin. Fire and rescue personnel worked diligently to cut through the cabin and safely extract him.
Many passengers suffered minor injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment via ambulance.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the accident, and an investigation is currently ongoing. In a related incident on June 23, a tipper truck carrying soil lost control in Kollam district, crashing into a bus stop. This tragic event resulted in the deaths of at least three individuals and left five others injured, as the soil from the truck fell on those waiting at the bus stop.
