Bruno Fernandes is expected to continue at Manchester United for at least one more year, despite strong interest from Saudi Pro League sides and the possibility of reuniting with Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to talkSPORT, the club captain has informed his teammates and close associates of his decision to stay, and there have been no formal discussions with the club regarding his future before the upcoming World Cup.

The 31-year-old midfielder remains an integral part of United’s long-term plans. He currently has one year remaining on his contract, with an option for an additional year, and his deal includes a €65 million (£56 million) release clause applicable only to non-English clubs. Club officials at Old Trafford are said to be calm about the situation.

Interest from Saudi clubs Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, and Al-Ittihad dates back to the previous summer. Fernandes was reportedly tempted by Al-Hilal ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup but ultimately decided that remaining in Manchester was the best choice for both his football career and his family.

The same report also notes that Al-Nassr are still eager to bring Fernandes together with Ronaldo again, and that Portugal manager Roberto Martinez is in discussions to take over as head coach of the Riyadh-based club following the World Cup.

Since joining United from Sporting CP in January 2020, Fernandes has been a consistent performer, recording 107 goals and 108 assists across 327 appearances. In the previous season, he registered a Premier League-leading 21 assists, surpassing the single-season record previously held jointly by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
