Bihar Home Guard Company Commander Recruitment 2026: The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has released the official notification (Advertisement No. 08/2026) for the recruitment of 65 Company Commanders under the Bihar Home Guard Service Cadre, Home Department (Special Branch), Bihar, Patna.
Male, female, and third-gender (Kinnar/Kothi/Hijra/Transgender) candidates are eligible to apply for this recruitment. The application process will be entirely online.

Recruitment for a Total of 65 Posts
A total of 65 vacant posts will be filled under this recruitment drive. A 35% horizontal reservation will apply to female candidates from Bihar. Additionally, a provision for 2% reservation has been made for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of freedom fighters from Bihar state. Candidates from states outside Bihar will be considered under the Unreserved (General) category.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized university. This qualification must be acquired by 1 August 2025.
Age Limit
Age will be calculated as of 1 August 2025. Category Minimum Age Maximum Age

SC/ST and Third Gender 20 years 42 years
Additionally, regular employees of the Bihar Government and ex-servicemen will receive age relaxation as per the rules.
Physical Standards
Minimum Height
General and BC Male - 165 cm
EBC, SC, and ST Male - 160 cm
All Female Candidates - 155 cm
Chest Measurement for Male Candidates
General/BC/EBC - 81 cm (unexpanded), 86 cm (expanded)
SC/ST - 79 cm (unexpanded), 84 cm (expanded)
A minimum chest expansion of 5 cm is mandatory.
Female Candidates
Minimum weight must be 48 kg.
For third-gender candidates, physical standards and PET rules applicable to the Backward Class (BC) category will apply.
Selection Process
The recruitment process will be completed in four stages.
1. Preliminary Written Examination
100 objective-type questions
Total marks - 200
Duration - 2 hours
Subjects - General Knowledge and Current Affairs
Candidates scoring less than 30 percent marks will not be eligible for the Main Examination.
2. Main Written Examination
The Main Examination will consist of two papers.
Paper-1: General Hindi

This paper will carry 200 marks, and the marks obtained in it will be included in the merit list. Negative marking of 0.2 marks per incorrect answer will apply to both papers. 3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Shot Put 16 pounds, 16 feet 12 pounds, 10 feet
The PET will be qualifying in nature only; marks obtained in it will not be included in the merit list.
4. Medical and Character Verification
Candidates who qualify in the PET will undergo a medical examination, character verification, and other necessary checks. Final appointment will be made thereafter.
How will the merit list be prepared?
The final merit list will be prepared solely based on the marks obtained in Paper-2 of the Main Examination. In the event of a tie in marks, the older candidate will be given preference. Subsequently, priority will be determined based on higher educational qualifications, followed by the alphabetical order of names as recorded in the 10th-grade certificate.
What will be the salary?
Selected candidates will be appointed under Pay Level-6. They will receive a salary in accordance with the Bihar Government's 7th Pay Commission norms, along with other admissible allowances.
Application Fee
The application fee is fixed at ₹100 for candidates of all categories. Payment can be made only through online modes such as net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. The application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
