A painful road accident in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh on Friday evening shocked the entire state. A Bolero pickup fell into a deep ditch in the inaccessible Kashapat area of Rampur sub-division, killing six people including a mother and son on the spot. The accident was so horrific that the vehicle was blown apart and the surrounding area echoed with screams.
A video of this accident has also surfaced, which has made the incident more painful. In the video, a woman is heard happily pointing towards the hills ahead and saying, "Look ahead, my maternal home...". But before these words could even be completed, after a few seconds screams were heard and the vehicle went out of control and fell into a deep ditch.
Life of a woman coming to her parents' home stopped
According to the information, Asha Devi, resident of Ani area of Kullu district, was going to her maternal home in Kashapat with her son. This was a normal journey for the family, but no one had any idea that this journey would become their last journey.
It is being told that the pickup vehicle was returning towards Kashapat after selling milk from Rampur. As soon as the vehicle reached near Dhandhol at around 4.30 in the evening, the driver suddenly lost control and the vehicle fell about 500 meters down the road to another road.
Car fell into 500 meter deep ditch
According to eyewitnesses, the accident was so severe that the vehicle was completely damaged. Relief and rescue operations proved extremely difficult due to the depth of the trench and the difficult geographical conditions. Local people first reached the spot and informed the administration. After this, police, administration and villagers jointly started the relief operation. It took hours of effort to take out the dead bodies from the deep ditch and reach the road.
These six people lost their lives in the accident
A total of six people died in the accident. The deceased included Asha Devi and her 10-year-old son couple from Kullu district. Apart from this, the driver has been identified as 32 year old Ashok Jain son of Dhyan Jain resident of Chhalta village of Rampur, Abhishek Sani son of 23 year old Narsingh Sani resident of Sharnal village Kashapat, 56 year old Laik Ram son of Magu Ram resident of Path village Kashapat and 23 year old Nitin son of Main Singh Jain of Chhalta village Tehsil Rampur. The deceased woman Asha Devi was going to her maternal home with her 10-year-old son.
The woman was live on Facebook at the time of the accident
The woman sitting in the pickup at the time of the accident had gone live on Facebook. The woman was showing her maternal condition to the passengers sitting in the pickup. The driver lost control of the car while the woman was talking. Due to which the vehicle fell into a deep ditch. The screams of the passengers can be heard clearly in the video. This heart-wrenching video of the accident is now going viral on social media.
Weeds spread throughout the area
After the accident, there is an atmosphere of mourning in the entire area including Kashapat Panchayat. There is mourning in the houses of the deceased and crowds of people are arriving to express their condolences. The administration has started the process of providing immediate relief to the families of the deceased as per rules.
Police engaged in investigation
Police have registered the case and started investigating the cause of the accident. Initially, uncontrolled vehicle movement is being considered as the cause of the accident, but the real reason will become clear only after the investigation is completed. This accident has once again raised serious questions regarding road safety in hilly areas. The death of six people in a matter of seconds and the shattering of the dreams of a family has left the entire Himachal in deep shock.
