Washing machine care tips
Nowadays, washing machine has become an essential appliance in every home. It helps in cleaning the clothes, but sometimes a strange smell starts coming from the machine. This problem occurs due to carelessness in taking care of the machine or ignoring some important things. If you want your clothes to remain fresh every time you wash them, completely germ-free and remain clean for a long time, then it is necessary to adopt some simple and effective methods.
Using a washing machine saves effort and time, but sometimes clothes can have a strange smell after washing. This problem can be caused by dirt, moisture or leaving clothes in the machine for a long time. Despite using expensive detergent, clothes may smell dirty instead of fresh. To solve this problem, there are some easy solutions by which clothes can become fragrant.
1. Clean the washing machine regularly
Dirt and mold can accumulate in the machine’s drum, rubber gasket, and detergent tray. Clean the machine thoroughly at least once a month, so that odor-causing bacteria cannot grow.
2. Remove clothes immediately
Do not leave clothes in the machine for a long time after the wash is complete. When wet clothes are left in a closed machine, they start getting damp and smelly.
3. Use Vinegar
Add one cup of white vinegar while running the machine empty. Vinegar helps in reducing the dirt and odor accumulated inside the machine. Besides, the smell of clothes can also be removed.
4. Don’t use too much detergent
Adding too much detergent can cause its particles to accumulate in the machine. These particles later cause bad smell and mold. Always use detergent as per the quantity of clothes.
5. Keep the machine door open
After removing the clothes, leave the lid or door of the machine open for some time. This removes the moisture inside and reduces the possibility of mold formation. The water in the machine dries up due to exposure to air, which reduces the possibility of moisture forming in it.
6. Use baking soda
Sometimes a little baking soda can be added during washing to remove odor from clothes. It helps in reducing odor and refreshing clothes.
