New initiative of Bihar government, ‘Panchayat Development Day’ will be celebrated every month in the state, various topics and schemes will be discussed.

Ushering in a significant change in the rural scenario of Bihar, the state government has now made a big announcement of organizing ‘Panchayat Vikas Diwas’ every month. This innovative initiative has been launched by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary from Tetiya Gram Panchayat of Tetiya Bamber block of Munger district. On this occasion, the Chief Minister along with the villagers also listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popular radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’, which increased the importance of this program even more. The Chief Minister has clarified that now ‘Panchayat Development Day’ will be organized in all the Gram Panchayats of the state on the last Sunday of every month, through which Panchayat representatives, concerned officials and local rural people will be able to come together for a total of twelve times in a year and have in-depth discussions on various important issues to the development of the Panchayat and will be able to take necessary decisions for effective resolution of the problems arising at the local level.

During this, the Chief Minister also said that on the occasion of ‘Panchayat Development Day’ every month, there will be extensive discussion on different topics and schemes to development. He informed that the theme of the first ‘Panchayat Development Day’ has been kept as ‘Women Friendly Panchayat’, the main objective of which is to make the Panchayats poverty free as well as make them clean, prosperous and self-reliant. Samrat Chaudhary also mentioned about the cooperation camps organized by the state government on the first and third Tuesday, where the pending works of the people at the government level are settled within 30 days. He said that till now more than three and a half lakh applications have been successfully processed through these camps. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that on the same lines, ‘Panchayat Development Day’ will also prove to be a very effective platform for rural development.

Important topics will be discussed under Panchayat Development Day

The Chief Minister has said that under ‘Panchayat Development Day’, there will be in-depth discussion on important topics like health, education, water management, irrigation, drinking water, cleanliness, green development, social justice and social security and on the basis of these topics, a detailed action plan will be prepared at the Panchayat level. He appealed to all MPs, MLAs, Zilla Parishad members, Panchayat Samiti members, Mukhiyas, Sarpanches, Ward members and Panches to make active contribution through Gram Sabhas to ensure public participation in this important initiative.

Emphasis will be given on empowerment of women

Putting special focus on the empowerment of women, the Chief Minister said that the theme of the first ‘Panchayat Vikas Diwas’ has been kept as ‘Women Friendly Panchayat’ because the government is continuously making efforts for the economic empowerment of Jeevika Didis. A large number of women are also being provided financial assistance for self-employment, so that they can become self-reliant.

Preparation to open model schools in all blocks

Announcing major changes in the education sector, Samrat Chaudhary said that the government is rapidly working towards opening model schools in all the blocks to provide quality education. Along with this, degree colleges will be established in 211 blocks with the aim of providing better education to the students of rural areas in their own areas. He also said that the government aims to create such model schools where children from private schools are also attracted to study. He told that recently he has inspected Miller High School of Patna and now soon he will also inspect Patna Collegiate and Science College.

Historic work done in housing for the poor and rural development: Chief Minister

The Chief Minister said that under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, historic work has been done in the field of housing for the poor, expansion of basic facilities and rural development in the country. He also said that under the ‘Developed India Campaign’, Bihar is likely to get a huge amount of about Rs 50 to 70 thousand crore in the next four to five years. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s achievement of providing permanent houses to four and a half crore people, he compared it to only one crore people getting permanent houses in Bihar in the last 20 years under the leadership of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He stressed that the dream of ‘Developed India’ and ‘Prosperous Bihar’ will be fulfilled only when Panchayats and villages become self-reliant.

In other important announcements, the Chief Minister informed that the state government is providing free electricity up to 125 units. In future, work is also being done to provide affordable and sustainable electricity to the people by developing solar energy based system. He also assured that strict action against criminals will continue and the rule of law will be maintained in the state at all costs. All these initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to take Bihar on a new development path.
