Samsung rollable phone report
Samsung is reportedly working on its first commercial rollable phone, with the device said to expand into a 10-inch display. The handset is expected to sit alongside the company’s broader foldable push, but with a different design that rolls out rather than folds open.
The report suggests the phone could be called the Galaxy Z Slide, although Samsung has not confirmed the name. It is being positioned as a new step in the company’s mobile innovation plans, with a screen that can move between a compact phone form and a much larger viewing area.
Display and design details
According to the report, the rollable device may use a 10-inch 16:9 display with around 440 pixels per inch. The appeal of the design is that users would get a larger screen when needed, while keeping the handset easier to carry when collapsed.
That puts the phone in a different category from Samsung’s existing foldables, including the Galaxy Z TriFold, which unfolds twice into a tablet-sized device. The rollable model would aim to deliver a similar large-screen experience through a sliding mechanism instead of a multi-fold structure.
Possible launch window
The current report says Samsung Display is targeting the first half of 2028 for the first real commercial rollable phone. That would mean the device could arrive around the same time as the Galaxy S28 series, if the timeline holds.
The report also notes that a second rollable model could follow later, with further development potentially extending into 2030. For now, however, the information remains in the rumour stage and Samsung has not made an official product announcement.

Samsung’s broader strategy
Samsung has already shown strong interest in new form factors through its Galaxy Z TriFold and other foldable devices. A rollable phone would give the company another way to stand out in premium mobile hardware, especially as brands continue to look for new screen designs.
If the report proves accurate, Samsung’s rollable phone could become one of its most distinctive launches in the coming years. The combination of a pocket-friendly body and a much larger display would make it a major talking point in the next phase of smartphone design.
