In a heartbreaking incident early Tuesday morning, a severe road accident on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, resulted in the deaths of four individuals, with around 20 others sustaining injuries. The collision occurred near milestone 112 in the Raya police jurisdiction when a private sleeper Volvo bus traveling from Lucknow to Delhi/Noida crashed into a trailer moving ahead at high speed.
Details of the Accident
Initial reports indicate that the bus was carrying approximately 65 passengers. At around 3:30 AM, the bus collided with a trailer loaded with gravel in the third lane. The impact was so severe that the front section of the bus was completely wrecked.
Witnesses reported that chaos erupted among the passengers immediately following the crash, with many trapped inside the bus.
Casualties and Injuries
Emergency services, including police and expressway rescue teams, promptly initiated a relief operation. A green corridor was established to expedite the transport of the injured to hospitals.

- Four passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.
- Approximately 20 individuals were injured.
- Several of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.
- All injured parties are receiving treatment at the district hospital and other medical facilities.
Preliminary Investigation by Police
According to the Mathura police, initial investigations suggest that excessive speed was a primary factor in the accident. However, the investigation team is also examining whether the trailer adhered to safety regulations on the road, including the condition of its backlights and reflectors.
Both vehicles involved have been seized for technical analysis.

Due to the early hour of the accident, the process of identifying the deceased is ongoing. Police are reaching out to families using the bus's passenger list, ticket booking records, and the mobile phones of the victims.
